There’s an atmosphere of joy in every corner of India today! The Indian women’s cricket team has finally won the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, and the celebrations have only intensified. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a reward of ₹51 crore for the team that made history at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
A historic moment for Indian sports
After two disappointing runner-up finishes in 2005 and 2017, India’s women finally achieved a dream millions had dreamed of for years. A 52-run victory over South Africa secured the country’s first Women’s World Cup title. Honoring this achievement, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia announced that a reward of ₹51 crore would be shared among the players, coaches, and support staff, declaring it the largest individual award in the history of Indian women’s sports.
“This victory isn’t just about a trophy, it’s about changing the face of Indian cricket forever. Just as Kapil Dev’s team inspired a generation in 1983, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team has done the same today,” said Saikia.
Inspiration for the Next Generation
The BCCI also praised the efforts made to promote women’s cricket in recent years, from equal match fees to increased investment and visibility. The result? A team that plays fearless cricket, breaks stereotypes, and brings pride to the country.
From Jemimah Rodrigues‘ heroic innings to Amanjot Kaur‘s composure under pressure, every player contributed to this dream journey. Their victory isn’t just a win on the scoreboard; it’s proof that women’s cricket has arrived in India.
As fireworks light up the sky and the entire nation chants “India! India!” As the slogans of “Suresh ki Baat” (Suresh ki Baat) start resonating, one thing becomes clear – this victory belongs to every little girl who ever picked up a bat and believed she could do something big.
