FC Barcelona ended their Asian tour in style by beating Daegu FC 5-0 in South Korea and capped a stellar pre-season- three matches, three wins, fifteen goals, and not a single goal conceded.
First Half Masterclass
Barca started off brilliantly with Lamin Yamal scoring the first goal in the 21st minute, passing to Gavi, who scored a superb goal from the edge of the box. The Catalans doubled their lead just six minutes later when Gerard Martin’s clever pass gave Robert Lewandowski an easy tap-in.
Just before the break, Gavi scored again, this time with a superb chip over the goalkeeper to give Barca a 3-0 lead at halftime. The lead could have been even more, as chances were being created from all sides.
Second-half firepower- Daegu vs FC Barcelona
Manager Hansi Flick brought on Pedri, Dani Olmo, Marcus Rashford, and Toni Fernandez in the second half and put on a lot of effort. The new players kept the game alive. In the 54th minute, a great one-two between Olmo and Rashford created space for Toni Fernandez, who scored Barca’s fourth goal.
Just ten minutes later, Eric Garcia played a pass to Rashford, who scored his first goal in a Barca jersey, making it 5-0. The chemistry between Olmo and Rashford was particularly encouraging.
The only setback of the night came late on when young defender Pau Cubarci limped off the field with a foot injury. Less than two weeks before his La Liga opener against Mallorca, his fitness will be closely monitored.
Ready for the season
From start to finish, Barca dominated Daegu with smooth passing, intense pressing and ruthless finishing. If this pre-season is any indication, the Culés can expect a blistering performance at the start of competitive action.
