Borussia Dortmund have stepped up their pursuit of Wolves forward Fabio Silva and have offered the Portuguese striker a five-year contract. Silva, 23, who impressed on loan at Las Palmas last season, is now in a transfer race between Dortmund and Serie A giants Roma.
Why Dortmund wants Fabio Silva
Dortmund are keen to bolster their offensive options ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign. With Sebastien Haller’s future uncertain and star striker Serho Guirassy in need of a reliable backup, Silva has emerged as a priority target. Reports suggest that talks between Wolves and Dortmund are progressing, with the English side valuing him at €20-25 million.
Silva’s versatility and goalscoring ability make him an attractive option for the Black and Yellows, who are also eyeing other offensive talents. His experience in multiple European leagues further adds to his popularity.
Silva’s journey so far
Signed by Wolves from Porto in 2020 for a then club-record £35 million, Silva has since played on loan in Belgium (Anderlecht), the Netherlands (PSV), Scotland (Rangers), and most recently in Spain, where he scored 10 goals and registered 3 assists in 24 La Liga matches for Las Palmas.
Despite his potential, Silva has struggled to secure a long-term place in Wolves’ first-team plans and is now looking for a new challenge – ideally at a club competing in Europe.
Roma is still in contention
Although Dortmund appear to be in the top spot, Roma remain interested and could match the Bundesliga club with an offer. For Silva, the decision will likely depend on playing time and the chance to play in continental competition.
What next?
This week is expected to see a fierce battle between Wolves, Silva, and his representatives. If the move is successful, Silva will join a Dortmund side determined to challenge Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen for the Bundesliga title.
