India created a unique history in their Test match history during the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. For the first time in their 93 years of Test cricket – 592 matches – India have included five left-handed batsmen in the playing XI.
The five left-handed batsmen included in the team are: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar. This combination is a first for the Indian Test team and comes as a good change ahead of a crucial match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series.
India made three changes to their team for this match: India vs England
Sai Sudarshan has been included in the team at number three, replacing Karun Nair.
Shardul Thakur was brought into the squad in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy, who suffered a knee injury early in the series.
24-year-old Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj made his Test debut in place of Akash Deep.
There was also a positive with Rishabh Pant, who suffered a minor finger injury during the third Test at Lord’s. However, he recovered in time and kept his place in the squad.
